April 28th 2008 We have had a chance to test the bottom fishing this last week. We did very well on red snapper in the shallow water but we only had 1 grey grouper. The deep water is still very poor on the bottom fish. The trolling for dolphin is going off. We haven't been catching great numbers of dolphin but most of the fish are in the 15 to 35 pound range and we have been averaging 5 to 10 fish per day. Just last night the shark fishing really seemed to pick up. We caught 7 sharks most of the spinner and black nose but we did have a couple shots at some real big sharks. They were most likely hammer heads or lemon sharks.

April 15th 2008 Here soon we should be done with the cold fronts and be ready for the calm days of summer. The cold fronts have held the cobia here and we are still having great luck targeting these fish in the later part of the day. This past week I have seen some awesome dolphin fish being brought to the dock. I have seen more 30 plus pound fish this past week than I normally see in a year. The kings were on the reef about 18 miles out and will be their with even more numbers when the water gets calm and stays clean. The bottom fishing is very slow but it is showing signs of improvement especially in the shallower water. I will write another report the first day I have a good bottom trip. Shark fishing is not red hot yet but we have caught some really nice sharks in our recent trips. Big bull and lemon sharks on a steady basis and we have had 1 giant hammer head on the line that busted off after a 1 and 2o minute battle. On average we are getting 3 or 4 sharks per evening.

March 3rd 2008 Look out here come the cobia for their migratory assault on Port Canaveral. The cobia fishing has been awesome. We are steadily finding them on the reefs and many wrecks we have offshore Canaveral. On several occasions in the last few weeks I have walked to the transom of the boat to find up to 20 cobia asking me to feed them something. We have also spotted several mana rays escorting cobia and sight casting to cobia under big mana rays is just awesome. The mackerel bite has slowed a bit because of the cold fronts that have decided to hit us every 3 days but I think as soon as we get into some consistent warm weather and a ocean that remains calm and clean the kings will be back in full force just as good as last month. The bottom fishing has remained real solid with nice catches of grouper, snapper, and some very large back breaking amber jack. The bottom fishing did seem to be a little slow yesterday I am not sure exactly why but I will report back the next time we go bottom fishing. Soon we should have some decent dolphin fishing, I have started seeing several schools of very small fish but I believe the good ones will be here soon. The shark fishing has been a little slow, most night we are only getting 2 or 3 shots at sharks but some of the ones we have been getting are the nice sand tigers in the 300lb range.

Feb 8th 2008 We have been fishing non stop for almost 2 weeks now. Just about everything is biting. We have been steadily catching smoker king mackerel with many of the fish weighing well over 25lbs. The cobia run has started early Capt. Stan has already put a 59 pounder on the dock  and we have had several over 30 pounds. The grouper, snapper and amber jack are still biting as good if not better than they were in November. The shark fishing is very good, Capt. Dave caught his first sand tiger a few nights ago. The shark was estimated around 400lbs. The only thing that is not biting is trolling for dolphin and wahoo but it should pick up in April and May.

January 9th 2008 We went out and tested the bottom fishing today after receiving a excellent report from Capt. Stan who fished with the Wednesday crew the day before and did very well with several grouper and snapper. The bottom fishing is just fine we fished 3 spots and caught 4 gag grouper 6 amberjack and several red snapper that were just short of keepers we also busted several grouper off. We  left a few hours to king fish and we quickly caught our limit of 14 fish. I also got a chance to test the shark fishing. While it wasn't red hot we did manage to catch 1 real nice spinner shark about 6ft and lost a few others.

January 2008 The fishing right now is on fire. On most day's we are catching king mackerel as fast as we can put bait in the water and on other days you might have to wait 30 seconds. The cobia have really started to show in good numbers and most of them have been big fish in the 25 to 50 pond range. Also while targeting the kings we have been catching the occasional sailfish witch is always a welcomed bonus. The bottom fishing has been really good and should remain that way, however the last few days it has slowed a bit. I am sure after the ocean calm's and we can get back out to the deep water the grouper, snapper and amberjack will be back on the feed. I will post another report as soon as I get a chance to test the bottom bite in the deep.

November 2007 This month can be really exceptional for bottom fishing. The grouper and snapper can really stack up on the many wrecks and reefs we have offshore Canaveral. While targeting the grouper and snapper we frequently catch cobia & numerous other species. Thanksgiving day kicks off the start of are king mackerel run. The kings will stack up by the thousands (yes I said thousands) on the reefs. It can literally be a non-stop fire fight with these awesome fish jumping clear out of the water when they strike. The best part about targeting these kings is when the conditions are right you don't need to have any patience. On our shark trips. We are still consistently catching large black tip and spinner sharks. We are also catching black nose and bonnet head sharks. The fishing will be great as long as we don't stay beat down by tropical storms and strong North winds. If we do get tropical storms coming thru the area, make sure you are ready to go fishing as soon as the ocean calms down. We will have debris and strong color changes where we can catch mahi mahi (dolphin), wahoo and sail fish.

September 2007  The fishing has remained excellent all year long and this month shows no sign of slowing. The first week of September we were plagued with bad weather and it did make the first couple trips of the month difficult. Now that we have the calm ocean back, the fishing is on. The king mackerel are biting fast and furious on the reef and we are still getting the occasional cobia, dolphin and black fin tuna in the mix while we are targeting the kings. We are also catching large barracuda just about every trip while targeting the king's (Barracudas love to eat king's right off the line). Barracuda are a awesome sight to see. Yes they often will eat a good dinner fish for the table but when you get the chance to do battle with one, they truly are impressive. The bottom fishing has remained solid. We are catching very nice gag grouper; several of them over 30lbs. The amber jack have been very numerous also and pound for pound nothing fights better than a amber jack. The mullet run is on along our coast and this is great for the shark fishing. We are not catching many of the smaller sharks but we are getting a few shots each trip at large spinner and black tip sharks. These sharks have typically been over 100lbs. The shark trips have also been producing some nice tarpon and they are always a welcomed bonus.
