Captain Greg's Fishing Report for June 2023
Port Canaveral, Cape Canaveral, Cocoa Beach, and Orlando
The summer belongs to the kings. This is the time of year to catch live baits such as pogys or thread fins, point the boat east and live bait troll the first structure you get to that has clean water.
This is the summer time staple and we are ready. Short fishing days and fast bites. A half day of live bait trolling consist of a lot of king mackerel and occasionally you catch the stray other palegic such as a mahi or blackfin tuna. After you have your fill of kings, go catch sharks or do a little stringer fish fishing for trigger fish, lane snapper & vermillions.
Summertime is an exciting time for us in the charter fishing business. This is the perfect time of year to introduce new anglers to fishing because seas are calm and the bite is quick. Tourist love this fishing style and it is a great way to entertain family that might be visiting for the summer.
This is not the time of year for mahi, grouper, wahoo or really anything else. This next bit of info is for all you meat machines, cooler fillers, dooms day preppers and anyone that doesn’t like king mackerel or sharks. This is the time of year for you to stay home or write letters to our representatives on how you feel about your 2 days a year you can keep red snapper.
Super simple report this month. Kings and sharks are not what everyone desires but for those who enjoy fishing for all the right reasons or for those who want a great introduction to some awesome fishing this is the time of year for you.
Be sure to save time to have some fresh king cooked up at the Grills Restaurant because there is no better fish to eat fresh on the grill. King Mackerel do not freeze well but sharks do and they are both sustainable and tasty when properly done.
We look forward to a great summer!
